Despite all the controversy preceding her performance at the 2019 American Music Awards, Taylor Swift took to the stage regardless and gave a career-spanning performance like no other.
In case you weren’t aware, Swift put out a statement on social media earlier this month saying that Scooter Braun & Scott Borchetta – the owners of every Swift album with the exception of this year’s Lover – were prohibiting her from performing any of her old songs.
Big Machine, the record label owned by Braun, said that wasn’t the case and the career-spanning medley went ahead as planned.
Swift had a very clear message in her performance, though. Wearing a shirt that had the names of her previous albums on it – Taylor Swift, Speak Now, Fearless, Red, 1989 and Reputation – she later took the shirt off for her performance of Lover‘s title track.
She also brought out Halsey and Camila Cabello to help her perform ‘Shake It Off’.
The performance was in commemoration of Swift being awarded ‘Artist Of The Decade’. She also took home numerous other awards, including ‘Artist Of The Year’, and is now the most awarded artist in the history of the American Music Awards.
