After last night’s “good news, bad news and mediocre news“, tonight promoter AJ Maddah has come good on his promise to reveal another band set to play at next year’s festival, announcing New York punk rockers Bayside as the next band added to the Soundwave 2015 lineup.
Maddah came good on his word to reveal the next band at 8pm this evening via his ever-at-hand Twitter account, after a series of clues were revealed. Three clues in — “no metal”, “4-piece band”, “from Queens, NY” — two savvy followers guessed correctly and took the prize, after a little confusion.
Last night Maddah revealed that the long-awaited supplementary announcement to Soundwave’s already stacked 2015 lineup would not be revealed this week as previously stated. He explained that the second announcement had once again been delayed because he was chasing three new bands to complete his lineup.
Instead he chose to implement a Twitter-based guessing game, with a SW15 backstage tour as the prize, ultimately revealing Florida metal band Nonpoint as the next band locked in for the festival.
Bayside have appeared at two previous Soundwaves, first in 2009 and again in 2011. The band released their sixth album, Cult, earlier this year, and recently toured with Soundwave favourites Alkaline Trio. Check out the lead single from Cult, Time Has Come, below.
Bayside and Nonpoint join the Soundwave 2015 lineup alongside headline acts Faith No More, Slipknot and Marilyn Manson. Maddah has also promised a “Justice League of Rock” supergroup as a further addition. Expect the full lineup to be revealed very, very soon.
