Watch Dr Dre Surprise The Crowd At Eminem’s Historic Wembley Show

Dr Dre made a surprise appearance during Eminem‘s history-making Wembley Stadium concert on Friday night. The show, his first in London since 2001, made Em the first rapper ever to headline the 90,000-capacity venue, which in the past has hosted the likes of Led Zeppelin and Foo Fighters.

Eminem was in the middle of performing his posthumous collaboration with The Notorious B.I.G., Dead Wrong, leading the crowd in a call-and-response of, “When I say ‘Doctor,’ you say ‘Dre.'” Summoned, the rapper, producer, and Beats founder appeared on stage and launched into a medley of some of his hits, performing Still D.R.E., Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang, and Forgot About Dre.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Em had originally intended on playing London’s Hyde Park, but was blocked from doing so after the park’s management deemed the content of his songs to be “offensive” and “unsuitable” and a concert potentially damaging to the park’s “public reputation.”

“I heard that I wasn’t going to be approved to play in Hyde Park and it made me even more excited to play in London this summer,” Eminem said, according to The Guardian. “The easiest way to get me to do something is to tell me I can’t do it. Thanks to the Royal Parks for making it all possible.”

However, according to Gigwise, not everyone in the crowd was pleased by Em’s 35-song setlist and the special guest, with many complaining that a sound system inadequate for a venue the size of Wembley made the concert a “complete waste of money” for many of the rapper’s fans in the back.
