Mark Ronson Is Playing In Sydney Next Week

Multi-instrumentalist and producer extraordinaire Mark Ronson is set to play two super-intimate DJ sets in Sydney next week, whilst on a promo tour for his latest album, Uptown Special. Ronson will be spinning some tracks at Oxford Art Factory, and at another VIP show in Sydney Harbour.

Ronson will perform as part of an exclusive Channel [V] Island Party on Tuesday, 3rd February, which will take place at floating open-air space The Island. Tickets to that performance can only be attained by entering a competition on the [V] Music website.

The producer will also perform a DJ set at Oxford Art Factory from 11pm on Wednesday, 4th February. Tickets to that set will be up for purchase by the general public.

Ronson is a seasoned DJ with eclectic taste and plenty of talent. “I started off really DJ’ing in New York hip hop clubs in the early 2000s and I play everything from Amerie to Biggie to Steely Dan to Nori[ega] to Missy to Roy Ayers,” Ronson told triple j last year.

“I don’t really see the lines between [genres]… I guess that’s why they sometimes do seem to other people like they’re all over the place but to me I just see it as the same thing – it’s good music you can move to and it has some soul to it.”

Uptown Special was written and produced alongside Grammy-winning producer Jeff Bhasker, and features contributions from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Kirin J Callinan and Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt. Album single Uptown Funk (feat. Bruno Mars) came in at number six on the triple j Hottest 100 of 2014 earlier this week.
