Deftones Just Made Fun Of Kanye West In The Best Way Possible

Deftones have subtly poked fun at Kanye West‘s attempts to show humility in the lead-up to the release of his new album, which is currently titled WAVES.

Yeezy, who this week clarified his statement that WAVES is “the best album of all time” by saying that it’s actually “ONE of the greatest albums not the greatest just one of”, put his newfound modesty down to the impact his musical idols have had on his life.

“Out of respect for Q-Tip, Puff, Hov, Lauren, Pharcyde, Mary, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, James, Pete Rock, Pac, Marvin,” he said.

Now, speaking in a statement (via Pitchfork) about Deftones’ forthcoming new album Gore, frontman Chino Moreno has shared his thoughts on just how good his band’s latest effort is.

“Out of respect for Pac, Big, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, Gore is ONE of the greatest albums not the greatest, just one of,” Moreno says, to which we say ~touché~. Kanye is yet to comment on Moreno’s statement, but then again he probably doesn’t know who Deftones are.

Deftones gave the world its first legit taste of Gore earlier this week when they shared their huge new track Prayers/Triangles. The album is set for release on 8th April as the follow-up to 2012’s Koi No Yokan.
