Oh Shit: Metallica Just Teased A ‘Worldwired Tour’

Brace yourselves, Metallica fans — the band have just teased the forthcoming announcement of a ‘WorldWired Tour’, which sounds a lot like they’re plotting, well, a ‘worldwide’ tour.

Taking to social media today ahead of their performance with Lady Gaga at the 2017 Grammy Awards, ‘Tallica shared a short video (below) which notes that something relating to a ‘WorldWired Tour’ will be announced on Monday US time, which means Australia could very well be about to receive new Metallica tour dates.

Late last year, former Soundwave Festival boss AJ Maddah teased that Metallica would tour Australia in the Aussie summer of 2017, but tour dates are yet to be officially announced.

Metallica last toured Australia as part of Soundwave Festival in 2013, but they haven’t played headlining shows since 2010’s visit for Death Magnetic, and are yet to tour their latest album Hardwired… To Self-Destruct

While all signs point to Metallica announcing a bunch of international tour dates in the next 48 hours, it’s important to remember that a ‘world tour’ often only includes tour dates in the US and Europe, but keep your fingers crossed that Metallica’s big announcement will be truly worldwide.

Watch Metallica’s teaser video for the ‘WorldWired Tour’ below, and stay tuned for the big announcement, whatever it may be.

UPDATE 14/02/17: Metallica have announced North American tour dates as part of their ‘WorldWired Tour’. For details, head to the band’s website.
