Drawing North – Showing Us How It’s Done

Drawing North is making this look too easy. While other bands continue to twiddle their thumbs, Drawing North is hard at work, ticking off the cities, venues and dates as they smash through their massive tour. Comprising 30 shows, their 2011 Australia Tour dwarfs those of their peers! Already with a plethora of international supports under their belt (and more to come) plus many hours on the road already logged, this is indeed the year of Drawing North, following a meteoric rise to the top you had to see to believe … and they are nowhere near done.

Music Feeds: What’s your name and what do you play in the band?

Chad Barnier: My name is Chad and I play rhythm guitar from Drawing North.

MF: What’s been your best experience so far in Drawing North?

CB:  I’ve had a number of moments stand out for me really; our launch earlier this year was an incredible milestone for us. A bunch of festivals we’ve played lately have been heaps of fun and we’re half way through a tour at the moment and we’re really enjoying it!

MF: You’re about to/have just started on a massive 30-date national tour; what happens on the road stays on the road, but what are you looking forward to the most?

CB: I’m loving playing really fun shows and getting to meet everyone afterward; it’s been really rewarding so far. We also got to hang out with a bunch of mates that live up north, which was awesome.

MF: What will be your most prized possession on the road?

CB: Haha, this changes every few days! Definitely my laptop, Drew and I have been playing a lot of GTA: San Andreas. A friend of ours put together a hard drive of a heap of TV shows, which keeps us entertained. Apart from that, my iPod serves me well and when I find a charger for my Game Boy, I plan on playing some more Pokémon.

MF: What can the crowds expect from your live show?

CB: I guess people can expect a lot of energy and enthusiasm; if you’ve seen us before or seen clips on YouTube, you know we like bust move. We’ve also been playing a few new songs from our new record and the reaction has been super positive so far!

MF: Have you had any crazy fan encounters?

CB: Haha, we’ve had a few interesting ones lately, but nothing crazy.

MF: You’ve played with a lot of heavyweights; which was the best band to play with?

CB: We’ve been super fortunate and blessed to play alongside some awesome bands. The Almost were incredible and really humble. We’ve actually just been confirmed to play with them again in New Zealand as well as Relient K and The Rocket Summer, so we’ll see how that goes!

MF: What is your dream festival to play?

CB: A few of us in the band would die to score a slot on the Vans Warped Tour; it’s been a dream of ours for a long time. Soundwave would be incredible too; we’d love to jump on that tour.

MF: What’s one word to describe Drawing North?

CB: Grub.
