Gold Fields – On The Road

Loved up melbourne 4 piece Gold Fields has had a head spinning hermetic year. With their wild Parklife and Coaster Festivals performances still fresh in many minds, Gold Fields has packed up the van and hit the road to play show after show of their infectious groovey tunes, blowing minds across Australia.

MF: Who are you and what’s your role in Gold Fields?

V: My name is Vin and I’m the guitarist/back up singer.

MF: If it weren’t for Gold Fields, what would you be doing now?

V: I’d be going to my uni graduation and most likely working at IBM in Ballarat.

MF: Treehouse went from Triple J Unearthed to High Rotation; what can you tell us about this track?

V: It was recorded at my house and it was part of the first batch of demos we ever wrote. The music was inspired by ‘Kill Bill’ and the lyrics were written three years ago.

MF: What’s your favorite thing about touring?

V: Travelling with mates and seeing different places.

MF: You’ve had so many major achievements for such a young band; what’s been your highlight?

V: Releasing our first EP.

MF: You have just started your tour in support of your self-produced EP; what are your thoughts on DIY releases in the music business today?

V: It’s great that bands these days can write and record original music with no budget and still be able to get it out to a wide audience using tools like social network sites and blogs.

MF: Surely playing with the likes of Crystal Castles, Pnau, and Miami Horror is a mind blowing experience; any crazy stories from these tours?

V: We’ve been very lucky to support great bands, but unfortunately no crazy stories yet. The Parklife after parties were pretty fun.
