The below video is sure to be the most out of this world thing you’ve seen so far today. In an effort which would prove to be the first of its kind, astronaut Chris Hadfield has created the first-ever music video to be filmed in space using the only track truly worthy of the milestone – David Bowie’s Space Oddity.
Before the mega-fans get to it, this is actually a revised version of the track but the guitar spins, the backdrop of planet Earth and the fact that he actually has a guitar in space would make even hardcore Bowie fans forgive those minor transgressions. It doesn’t hurt that Hadfield is also a really talented singer and guitarist, though having spent 5 months in the International Space Station he’s likely had plenty of time to practice.
In his time in orbit, the space explorer has garnered a strong following through his regular tweets, informing we simple land-dwellers of what it’s actually like living in space. Recently, Hadfield also performed a singalong with Canadian school kids in another session beamed straight from the ISS.
Hadfield is due back on terra firma today, so here’s hoping he hasn’t jinxed it.
