ARIA nominated artist Holly Throsby has got your Friday feels covered with the unveiling of her stunning new single, ‘Aeroplane’.
“Oh my darling, give me wings,” Throsby croons delicately on the tender ballad. “So I can up and leave. There are other places meant for me. And though the sky is long, there’s somewhere I belong.” For anyone who’s felt the urgent need to escape, to move somewhere new in a quest of wide-eyed self-discovery, ‘Aeroplane’ will resonate deeply.
Says Throsby: “Aeroplane is a song about restlessness, and that thing they call a ‘geographical cure’. Where you’re always going somewhere else to try and fix something inside yourself. It never works, of course, but it’s an enjoyable method.”
‘Aeroplane’ will feature on Throsby’s fifth solo album After A Time, set to be unveiled upon the world on February 17th. The album was conceived over the last five years and charts a sonic evolution for the artist towards a more electric and raw sound.
Some album tracks were penned around the time Throsby was working on her first novel, Goodwood, which was published in October 2016 to glowing reviews.
With many achievements to celebrate, Throsby will embark on her first headline tour in six years this March, playing intimate venues across the country. Catch dates and details here below. But first, treat your emotions to ‘Aeroplane’.
