Australian actor Abbie Cornish, who raps under the name Dusk, is currently readying her debut EP, Key of the Sun. The EP’s first single, Way Back Home, has now made its way online, and boasts the production chops of Hilltop Hoods rapper Suffa.
Way Back Home (below) works around laid-back grooves, with Dusk rapping verses over the top. The track’s vibrant chorus references gospel music, with a chorus of singers carrying the song’s core vocal hook.
As stated on Dusk’s official website, Key of the Sun will include six tracks, and will feature contributions from Hilltop Hoods and vocalist Jane Tyrrell. Now that Way Back Home has been made public, a music video for the song is expected to arrive shortly, with the EP’s next cut, Evolve (featuring Jane Tyrrell), set for release later this month.
Dusk is supporting American rapper Nas on his Illmatic Australian tour, which begins in Brisbane today, and wraps up in Adelaide on Thursday, 29th January. Following the tour and the release of Key of the Sun, Dusk will begin work on her debut album.
