AJ Maddah Says Garbage “Refused” To Rearrange Set Times

Today’s cancellation of Garbage’s Soundwave set in Sydney was avoidable – at least, that’s the impression given from AJ Maddah after the straight-talking Soundwave boss fielded questions from fans all afternoon after 2 delayed trucks caused schedule problems on Stage 2.

Most sets were able to go ahead as planned but early this afternoon two headlining acts, Paramore and Garbage, remained an uncertainty. A swift juggling act saw Paramore’s set salvaged but, alas, Garbage could not or would not play their scheduled slot. When pressed by one curious fan as to why a reshuffling of acts couldn’t have accommodated Garbage, AJ Maddah simply replied, “We offered. They refused.” In response, Garbage fans have branded the band as ‘divas’ and labelled the band’s perceived lack of effort to play for Soundwave punters as ‘amateur’ (amidst a slew of ‘rubbish’ puns, of course).

If AJ Maddah’s tweet is accurate, this would be the second occasion in recent memory that Garbage haven’t lived up to fans expectations. In November of last year frontwoman Shirley Manson told fans via Twitter to “blow me”, among other taunts, after Manson posted about what she felt was a lackluster effort from a German audience.
