The Avalanches Release Mysterious Teaser Clip, Hinting At New Music

This could be it, you guys. This could really be it.

The Avalanches have only just emerged after almost 15-years of hibernating in what we can only assume was some form of secret subterranean cave, and now they actually, might be, for real this time, about to release some NEW MUSIC.

Look, we’ve heard this before, we know. But this time the excitement is backed up by a new teaser clip, and the fact that the band has just announced their first tour dates in years, including a spot on the lineup for Splendour In The Grass 2016.

The ‘lanches have recruited an all star cast for their mysterious new clip, dubbed Since They Left Us, including Father John Misty, Ariel Pink, Danny Brown, Royal Trux’s Jennifer Herrema, and fellow Aussie Kirin J. Callinan.

The video itself takes the piss out of the fact that we’ve been waiting 16 years now for new Avalanches music (with Herrema kindly reminding us that their “first, last and only” album was 2000’s Since I Left You) and graciously timelines all of the instances over that period when we’ve been given updates on the album’s progress and told its release wasn’t far off.

Fittingly, the whole thing ends with the caption: Coming Soon… Hopefully”, so we’re choosing to take that on faith.

Brown, Pink, and Herrema have all been reported to be working with The Avalanches in the past, which brings more credence to the theory that their sophomore LP may finally be about to drop.

We’ll bring you more news on The Avalanches’ version of Chinese Democracy as it develops.

In the meantime, check out their new teaser clip below.
