Bob Dylan Recording New Album With Mexican Influence

It appears Bob Dylan is in the process of recording a new album (his 35th to date), according to Los Lobos multi-instrumentalist David Hidalgo, who has been working with him recently on new material.

Hidalgo, who played Dylan’s two previous albums Together Through Life and Christmas In the Heart in 2009, spoke to the Aspen Times saying:

“It was a great experience. And different. Each one has been different, all completely different approaches. It’s an amazing thing, how he keeps creativity. I don’t see how he does it.”

We can expect to have some unique sounds on the new album, with Hidalgo lending his Mexican guitar like instrument, a tres, to the recording:

“He [Dylan] would say, ‘Wow, what’s that?” said Hidalgo. “He liked the sound. So we’d get it in there.”

Bob Dylan toured Australia last year, including an appearance on the Bluesfest 2011 line-up.
