Bon Jovi Opens Up On Sambora’s Exit

Word has now come through from the main man himself, Jon Bon Jovi, regarding the current situation with long-term cohort Richie Sambora. The guitarist announced that he would be stepping back from his duties during the band’s What About Now tour, and Bon Jovi’s thoughts on the drama have come amid a sea of speculation.

Most of the who ha has come from good old TMZ, who claim that personal disputes run deep within the band, suggesting some Yoko Ono style intervention from Bon Jovi’s wife Dorothea, but the iconic frontman is quick to play down the rumours:

“I think Richie’s doing all right, (but) I haven’t spoken to him,” lead singer Jon Bon Jovi says (Phil X has replaced Sambora for the rest of the tour). “We were surprised. It was 3:30 on show day on Tuesday and we got a phone call that he wouldn’t be there. It’s a personal matter.”

He adds the highly valid point, telling Austin’s American Statesman (Via Noise11) “Don’t believe what you read on TMZ because it’s the furthest thing from the truth”.

As for when the ill-fated tour will arrive Down Under…we know it’s gonna happen in 2013, but that’s about it.
