UPDATE: The Killers have now announced a 2018 Australian tour.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has confirmed that they will be appearing at this year’s AFL Grand Final.

While he doesn’t know much about the Aussie sport, he joked, “There’ll be 100,000 people there? Holy shit. They should have got Bruno Mars — he’s much better at that sort of thing than me.”

Meanwhile, the NRL is reportedly attempting to battle the AFL’s get with Pearl Jam, however, the band is yet to confirm the appearance.

Today, The Killers dropped The Man, the first single off their forthcoming album Wonderful Wonderful. Flowers told triple j that the album will be out late September and also said The Man is not indicative of the rest of the record.

“We took some chances. We really tried to push ourselves and to grow,” he said.

“I’m really proud of what we did.”

It’s their first album since 2012’s Battle Born.

If the album is released in late September, there’s a large possibility it will be out by the time of the grand final on 30th September.
