Calexico Australian Tour 2013 Announced

Arizona desert noir legends Calexico are returning to Australia in September 2013, bringing their unique fusion of influences back to our shores for a string of festival and headline shows around the country.

Calexico, led by Joey Burns and John Convertino, have been mixing Portugese fado, ’50s jazz and gypsy music, adding a pinch of ’60s surf rock and spaghetti western and combining it with a dash of indie rock to produce 7 studio albums, 2 movie soundtracks and a slew of collaborations. Their live show is an unmissable event, as anyone who caught them when they were last in the country for Golden Plains festival in 2010 can attest.

Supporting the quartet on most of their Down Under dates will be Bristol-born, New Zealand raised singer songwriter Tiny Ruins, playing tracks from her sophomore effort Haunts, with select shows featuring appearances from Melbourne’s dirty rockers Quarry Dead Rats, Spanish world music wonder DePedro and Melbourne indie popsters Brighter Later.

Tickets are on sale now.
