Chester Bennington Says Linkin Park’s New Album Will “Challenge” Their Fans

Shortly after Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington resigned from his fleeting post as lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots to focus on his work with Linkin Park, the band confirmed that they had began recording a new album.

In January they uploaded a post to Instagram showing Bennington in a studio, and now we’ve finally got an update on how the new record is coming along.

In a video message uploaded to YouTube, Bennington told fans that he’s incredibly happy with how the recording is going so far.

“I’ve been working really hard on some vocals for the last couple of months,” he says.

“And we’ve done some really great stuff in here. The songs are amazing. I’m really proud of what we’ve accomplished in the studio so far.”

He goes on to tease the fact that the band may be moving in a slightly different direction to their older stuff.

“We’ve got a lot of great material that I hope challenges our fanbase as well as inspires them as much as it has us. And so I’m really looking forward to you guys hearing the stuff. It’s, like, super, super exciting,” he says

Bennington’s suggestion that fans will be challenged by the new material echo comments made by fellow Linkin Park singer Mike Shinoda recently. On a recent Q and A podcast uploaded to their Soundcloud, Shinoda said that they had, “approached the [recording] process differently” this time around.

Linkin Park have not yet indicated when the forthcoming album is likely to be released.
