Linkin Park Announce New Documentary Film ‘Unshatter’, Coming To Aussie Cinemas

Linkin Park fans have spent the last couple of years watching one of modern rock’s most complicated and emotional comeback stories unfold in real time. Now, it looks like the band are finally ready to tell it themselves.

Fresh off their appearance at Germany’s Rock am Ring festival this weekend, Linkin Park quietly dropped a trailer for a brand new film titled Unshatter – and if the first footage is anything to go by, this one’s shaping up to hit longtime fans right in the feelings.

UNSHATTER: Coming Soon to Theaters Worldwide

There’s no official release date just yet (the teaser simply promises the film is coming “soon”), but the clip strongly hints that Unshatter will explore the band’s journey into this new chapter following the loss of frontman Chester Bennington and the eventual return of Linkin Park in 2024.

The short trailer is packed with loaded imagery and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments, including shots of the band behind the scenes, archive footage, scenes from their recent live return and a glimpse of graffiti paying tribute to Chester.

Then comes the line that’s already sent fans spiralling online: “The hardest part of ending is starting again.”

Subtle? Not exactly. But it does feel fitting.

For a lot of fans, Linkin Park’s return has never just been about new music, it’s been about watching one of the biggest rock bands of the 2000s figure out what moving forward actually looks like.

After Chester’s death in 2017, the future of the band remained uncertain for years. Then in 2024, Linkin Park officially re-emerged with a new lineup and introduced Dead Sara vocalist Emily Armstrong, marking the beginning of a new era that eventually led to the release of From Zero – their first album in years and their first full-length project of this chapter.

Behind the camera for Unshatter is longtime band member and visual architect Joe Hahn, who’s directed countless Linkin Park visuals over the years and helped shape much of the band’s identity beyond the music.

Which honestly makes him a pretty perfect person to tell this story.

If the trailer’s anything to go by, Unshatter doesn’t look like it’s aiming to be a standard rock doco. This feels more like a reflection on change, grief, reinvention and whatever comes after.

And judging by fan reaction already… people are ready.

Linkin Park are currently wrapping up the European leg of their world tour, after touring Australia earlier this year, with a headline appearance at Download Festival UK locked in next week.
