Coldplay Announce One-Off Australian Show In June

UK superstars Coldplay are eschewing the stadiums and discarding the traditional press schedule for their sixth album, Ghost Stories, announcing today an intimate, one-off Australian show this June, at Sydney’s Enmore theatre on June 19th.

Coldplay’s last tour of Australia was for their Mylo Xyloto record in November 2012, which saw the band play to over 200,000, in front of crowds of at massive stadium venues. On the back of their new release they’ve opted for a more intimate affair, playing in a venue which has a capacity of just 1600. No further announcement has been made for a full Australian tour.

Coldplay have already previewed more than half of their new album, Ghost Stories, before it was released today. It has been touted as the quintessential breakup record, having been written and recorded during the breakup of frontman Chris Martin’s marriage with Gwyneth Paltrow.

Stringent anti-scalping measures will be in place for this exclusive live show, including personalised digital tickets on which patrons’ names will be printed and cross checked against credit card details and photo identification. Fans will only be allowed to buy a maximum of two tickets which will not be emailed to patrons until the day of the show.

General public tickets for the one-off show will go on sale Tuesday May 20th at 10am. My Live Nation members will be eligible for a pre-sale which begins 2pm Monday May 19th with a fixed allocation.
