Florence From Florence & The Machine Working On Side Project Titled ‘Side Project’

Having conquered the indie realm with incredible vocal talent, Florence + The Machine frontwoman Florence Welsh has recently set the dance world firmly in her sights.

According to Digitalsky, Welsh was inspired by a recent remix of her track Spectrum (Say My Name) by dance music visionary Calvin Harris.

Welsh confessed to the UK publication that she is now pursuing a presence through dance music: “We actually have a dance outfit side project called Side Project. We made this weird house track that sounded quite churchy – to be confirmed! As yet, it has never seen the light of day”.

Of course many producers have added their flare to her music. As Welsh explained, she’s interested in working with many outside influences, commenting on the Calvin Harris Remix that she is “such a huge fan of his. What I enjoy about Calvin’s songs is that he has that blend of euphoric and melancholic, which as an artist he has managed to perfect. It’s that mix of catchy and sad – that feeling of complete joy but something tugging at your insides. That’s what makes a great pop song and I think he’s really coined that.”

Florence + The Machine were in town earlier and are now zig zagging across the States on tour, so no word yet on when we will be able to officially hear Side Project, but I think the performer has earned the right to explore other genres; they’ve led us to good things previously?
