Florence + The Machine Pay Tribute To Dave Grohl, Cover A Foo Fighters Classic At Glastonbury

Florence + The Machine stepped up to the plate to headline the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival, and took the opportunity to smash out a cover of the Foo Fighters hit Times Like These, as a tribute to injured frontman Dave Grohl.

A top the main Glasto stage, Florence Welch addressed adoring crowd, announcing that the next song was dedicated to “the legend and all-round incredible human being Dave Grohl.”

“He was so incredibly kind and supportive to us when we were first starting out, and we were so sad to hear he had broken his leg because we love him so much,” said Welch. “Dave, if you are listening, we love you. We all love you.”

They then performed a stunning cover of the Foo’s hit, with Florence Welch’s soaring vocals backed by a brass band.

Florence + The Machine stepped up to play the headline festival slot, originally allotted to the Foo Fighters, after Dave Grohl broke his leg at a show in Sweden, only a few days before the festival was due to begin.

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said that once they were delivered the news that the Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out of the festival, “there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence.”
