Flume And Jagwar Ma Lead Independent Music Awards Nominations

Nominees for the eighth Annual Carlton Dry Independent Music Award have today been revealed with AIR delivering the shortlist of artists, both upcoming and established, whom have excelled within the independent market. This years obvious favourites are Flume and Jagwar Ma, coming in with 5 nominations each.

Flume and Jagwar Ma are in the running for the same five awards – Best Independent Artist, Best Independent Album, Best Independent Single Or EP, Best Independent Dance/Electronic/Club Single and Best Independent Dance/Electronica Album.

Having been nominated in previous years, Big Scary are back for some more with 3 nominations and Seth Sentry and Vance Joy up for two each. Of course, with high profile acts such as The Drones, Flight Facilities and RÜFÜS also in contention, most categories remain anyone’s game.

For the first year ever, the Independent Music Awards will be offering the Carlton Dry Global Music Grant which will see a cool $50,000 go to one of the nominated artists. The cash can be spent on recording, touring and breaking the O/S market.

The awards will once again be held at Revolt Art Space in Melbourne, with live performances from Archie Roach, Violent Soho, Saskwatch, Big Scary, Seth Sentry and RÜFÜS. You can check out the full list of nominees below.
