Foo Fighters New Album “Officially Done”

Foo Fighters have reportedly finished their much anticipated, as-yet-untitled eighth studio album, which saw the band travel to and record songs in eight different US cities. Album producer Butch Vig took to Twitter to break the news.

“We are officially done with the new Foo Fighters album. 23 straight days mixing! IT’S EPIC!!!,” he wrote. The album will be accompanied by a HBO mini series, Sonic Highways, which will document the recording progress. Dave Grohl operates as director on the project, following his 2013 Sound City documentary.

The band recently hinted at a November release for the new record, which follows their 2011 album Wasting Light. Speaking about the “cinematic” sound of the album, Grohl recently said the album would take fans by surprise.

“You’ll recognise Foo Fighters in this record but you’ll also be surprised by us. We’re doing things that we’ve never done before.” He added, “honestly, there are sections of songs that will really take you by surprise.”

The Foos also teased an Australian tour earlier this year with a Facebook post directed at their fans Down Under, imploring them to sign up to their fan page, “cause you never know where/when the Foo’s may show up.”

An official release date for album is yet to be announced.
