Foo Fighters Playing ‘Letterman’ Every Night Next Week

Foo Fighters have locked in a week-long residency on The Late Show With David Letterman, during which they’ll perform a number of covers with artists who inspired their forthcoming eighth studio album, Sonic Highways.

Each day next week, from Monday, 13th to Friday, 17th October, Foos will perform live on Letterman. The Hollywood Reporter say frontman Dave Grohl will also sit down for an interview with Letterman — a longtime avowed Foo Fighters devotee — during the Monday, 13th episode.

As The Hollywood Reporter have noted, Foo Fighters’ week on Letterman will feature musicians from the cities which inspired Sonic Highways. So who might we see perform with the band?

Acts as diverse as Dolly Parton, Slash, Clive Davis, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, LL Cool J and Macklemore have featured in promotional material for the album. Maybe we’ll even see the band perform that Roky Erickson cover. No matter who turns up, though, it’s guaranteed to be entertaining.

Foo Fighters’ Letterman residency coincides with the premiere of a documentary series developed by Grohl, detailing the creation of the band’s newest album. Also titled Sonic Highways, the series will get its premiere on HBO on Friday, 17th October US time.

Foo Fighters have also released a new Sonic Highways teaser clip (below), which focuses on the thoughts and feelings of guitarist Chris Shiflett during the album’s creation. The Butch Vig–produced Sonic Highways album is set for global release on 10th November.
