Foo Fighters Share ‘Sonic Highways’ Teaser Trailer

HBO have released a teaser to promote Dave Grohl‘s upcoming documentary series Sonic Highways, which the frontman describes as “a musical map of America.” Grohl recently announced the series, which depicts the recording of the Foo Fighters‘ new album in studios across America.

The series was shot in eight different cities: Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC, and New York. “It all started with the idea of recording in different studios all over the country,” Grohl explains in the trailer. “Doing something to make it new. You can tie all of these people and places together with these ‘sonic highways’. This is a musical map of America.”

As well as depicting the recording of the Foos’ new album, which is due out in November, Grohl will also interview and perform with local music legends in each city, with some of the collaborations set to appear on the new album. Collaborators include Gary Clark Jr and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen.

Grohl recently explained to Billboard that after completing his documentary about the legendary Sound City studios, he “realised that the pairing of music and documentary works well because the stories give substance and depth to the song, which makes for a stronger emotional connection.”
