In a bizarre series of events, it appears that Frank Ocean’s father intends on suing the American musician for over a million dollars to make up for child support payments. Taking to Twitter, the singer wrote, “Father wanna sue me for a million. Like I owe him back child support. Weak individual bought me a Swiss knife at 6yrs old then dipped on me.”
NME reports that the tweet has now been deleted; however, another remains, stating, “I got his DNA though, maybe I inherited some of his karma too.”
Ocean was raised by his mother in New Orleans. Information on the absentee father is quite scarce. However, it’s possible that he is trying to get in on Ocean’s recent success.
In other Frank Ocean related news, he is currently unsure whether he will make a follow-up to this year’s release of Channel Orange. Speaking to The Guardian, Ocean confessed that “…storytelling’s a different thing. It’s the more interesting part about making music for me, or making albums and songs and stuff. So much so that I might not make another album. I might just write a novel next. I don’t know!”
He added: “This isn’t a faux retirement. It’s no bullshit. I was just making music yesterday. But I do think it would be fucking legendary if I just made ‘Channel Orange’ last year, then put out a best-selling novel next year, then, you know, designed an arena in Stockholm in 2014!”
