Grinspoon Are Getting Back Together For A Huge 2017 National Tour

Grinspoon are coming out of hiatus for a massive 27-date national tour across the country between June and September, in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of their debut album Guide To Better Living.

Phil Jamieson, Pat Davern, Joe Hansen and Kristian Hopes will be playing the album in its entirety (as well as other fan favourites) on the upcoming tour, which will be supported by Hockey Dad. Catch all the tour dates, below.

Formed in 1995, Grinspoon won triple j Unearthed‘s nation band competition in its inaugural year, before going on to spend 36 weeks in the ARIA Top 50 with Guide To Better Living and eventually releasing another six albums. The group went on hiatus in 2013, and since then have only played a support slot for Cold Chisel in 2015.

“I hate nostalgia, it gets my goat,” says Jamieson.

“What I do love are tunes, and we’ve got tunes! ‘NBT’, ‘Balding Matters’, ‘Scalped’ are probably what are considered to be album tracks or ‘filler’, but I can’t wait to spit ’em out with as much venom as I did as a 19-year-old.

“I don’t think I really knew what I was doing when I made Guide To Better Living, but I know that playing this album from start to finish is going to be one of the most challenging, enjoyable and kick-ass things I’ll ever do! Bring on the road, bring on the tour, bring on the shows.”

Earlier this year, Jamieson told Music Feeds that there was definitely a chance of Grinners getting back together. “I’d like that to happen,” he said. “But logistically, I don’t know. It has to be a good plan to make sure it’s not shit. I don’t want it to be shit.”

A multi-format 20th Anniversary reissue of Guide To Better Living will be released on 23rd June, expanding the original 16-track album to 49-track collection of rarities, live tracks and unreleased recordings. The album will also appear on vinyl for the very first time, in a limited edition red vinyl pressing.
