I Killed The Prom Queen Pull Out Of Unify Gathering 2017

UPDATE 15/09/16 2:10pm AEST: I Killed The Prom Queen have told Music Feeds why they have pulled out of Unify Gathering 2017.

ORIGINAL STORY: I Killed The Prom Queen will no longer be appearing at Unify Gathering 2017.

As the festival promoters have told Music Feeds, the Adelaide-bred metalcore outfit have been forced to pull the plug on their appearance at next year’s heavy music bash due to a nonspecific set of “unforeseen circumstances”.

In a statement, the good folks at UNIFY say: “Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, I Killed The Prom Queen had to pull out of UNIFY 2017. We’re super excited that we’ve been able to replace them with one of Australia’s most iconic punk bands of all time.”

So yep, it turns out that the shitty news for metal fans is actually great news for punk fans, with UNIFY already announcing IKTPQ’s official replacement on the 2017 bill: none other than Aussie punk rock veterans Bodyjar.

“The first time I heard these guys, punk rock became better forever,” Violent Soho’s Michael Richards said following the news of the Jar’s official addition. And it seems like plenty of other bands on the UNIFY lineup are pretty stoked to have them on board as well.

Deez Nutz frontman JJ Peters quipped: “Rimshot is one of my all time favourite punk rock albums. Definitely one of the bands that inspired to me to write music and start a band. Psyched to share the stage with the legends!”

Music Feeds has reached out to IKTPQ for comment.

Despite IKTPQ’s UNIFY gig (where they were supposed to be performing their 2006 sophomore album Music For The Recently Deceased in full) now itself being recently deceased, there’s still plenty to get excited about on the 2017 lineup, which is still packing AlexisonfireViolent SohoNorthlaneEvery Time I DieThe Getaway PlanHouse Vs HurricaneLetlive.Thy Art Is Murder plus loads more stellar heavy AF acts.

And ICYMI: the festival also just unveiled a buy-now-pay-later program for next year’s tickets.
