Jack White Just Shared ‘City Lights,’ A Previously Unreleased White Stripes Track

Sure, The White Stripes may not have released any new music since 2008, or even been active since 2011, but White Stripes fans are some of the most loyal, and now Jack White has unveiled a surprise release by the band.

The track is called City Lights and was a song that Jack has had floating around his collection for many years. It was originally written to be included on 2005’s Get Me Behind Satan but was never released. White came across the track in the process of commissioning the album to be re-released in vinyl for Record Store Day in 2015.

The tune is set to be included on White’s new ‘best of’ double LP called Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 containing 26 acoustic versions of the best of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and of Jack White’s own solo tracks via his label Third Man Records this September.

The record is now available for pre-order, but in the meantime wrap your ears around the first release from The White Stripes in almost a decade. Jack White Acoustic Recordings is out Friday, 9th September.
