After the recent release of his debut solo album Blunderbluss, and the tours that will follow it (including a Splendour in the Grass appearance here in July) Jack White has now been announced to write and play the score for the upcoming new Walt Disney Lone Ranger movie.
Variety reports that the movie will be directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer; it will star Armie Hammer as the title character and Johnny Depp as Tonto, while White has been brought on board as a suitable fit for the soundtrack.
“Jack’s an amazing songwriter with a unique style,” Bruckheimer told Variety. “We’re thrilled to hear his fresh take on the William Tell Overture.”
The Lone Ranger will be released around May next year.
