Jamiroquai Are Back, And They’re Teasing Something Called ‘Automaton’

British funk lords Jamiroquai have announced their triumphant return to our earholes by dropping a juicy teaser video (and a little new music) for a new release titled Automaton.

Jamiroquai’s “#AUTOMATON TRANSMISSION 001” video (below) is packing some seriously futuristic imagery, and features the caption, “Coming to a planet near you… #AUTOMATON.”

Music wise, the clip includes some very spacey synths, as well as the beginning of what appears to be a hella funky beat topped by some vocals from frontman Jay Kay. Watch the video in full, below.

Jamiroquai’s latest album Rock Dust Light Star dropped back in 2010, and while no official release date has been announced for the Automaton project, an unverified online forum post suggests the album will be released on Friday, 31st March. The post also lists 13 potential songs for the release supposedly taken from ASCAP, an agency which helps artists receive royalties for the licensing of their work.
