Josh Homme Hints That Another QOTSA Album Could Be Released This Year

Good news, Queens Of The Stone Age fans: frontman Josh Homme has hinted that the follow-up to …Like Clockwork could be out sooner rather than later, making a stark change from the six whopping years the Palm Desert rockers made us wait between records last time.

In an interview with The Skinny, our favourite ranga said he’d like to emulate Iggy Pop‘s Berlin period, in which the godfather of punk rock wrote, recorded and released 2 albums in the same year:

“Part of me thinks it would be great if this was the point-counterpoint that ‘The Idiot’ and ‘Lust For Life’ are, y’know? I love those records so much; they came out in a quick period of time. ‘The Idiot’ is very dark and ‘Lust For Life’ is sorta like ‘Tah-daaah!’ I would love to answer this album with a ‘Tah-dah!’ at some point.”

He followed that up by saying, “I think six years is far too long,” sending fans of the Californian quintet into a frenzy of over-stimulation. QOTSA have just confirmed that they’ll be heading to Oz for a visit in autumn 2014, skipping the festival season and playing their own headlining tour, which means we could have not just the stellar …Like Clockwork to enjoy live, but its follow-up too.
