Mastodon, QOTSA & ATDI Supergroup Gone Is Gone Unveil New Track ‘Starlight’

Gone Is Gone – the unholy union of Mastodon singer/bassist Troy Sanders, Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, At The Drive In drummer Tony Hajjar and guitarist/keyboardist Mike Zarin – have just previewed yet another track from the forthcoming self titled debut.

Evolving out of soundtrack work Zarin and Hajjar recorded together, the duo fleshed out the songs and brought in the Troys to complete the lineup. With about 20 songs written, 8 of which will see the light of day on their forthcoming release.

Titled Starlight, the supergroup chose to premiere the track on a recent Beats 1 radio show hosted by Jehnny Beth of Savages. Beth also interviewed Van Leeuwen with a snippet of the interview up on the Beats 1 Twitter.

With restrained verses laden with tense foreboding, giving way to an enormous chorus, Starlight sees the band bust out their chops big time. Featuring Sanders’ trademark gravelly growl all over it, let’s just hope the band can keep up the pace and quality on the EP due July 8th via Rise Records.

This of course follows the recent release of lead single Violescent recently, with both songs giving fans a lot to be excited about.
