Looks Like The Avalanches Are Playing Glastonbury & A Crapload Of Other Massive Fests In 2017

You may have thought The Avalanches had a freakishly huge year this year but hoooooooooo boy just wait til you cop an eyeful of their 2017 itinerary.

It’s safe to say the freshly reanimated Melbourne electrolords have spent 2016 conquering Australia, after reemerging from their decade-spanning cryogenic slumber, releasing their first album in 16 years, reigning live at Splendour In The Grass and booking a slot at the upcoming Falls Fest. But next year, it looks like they’re setting their sights on ALL-OUT GLOBAL DOMINATION.

The noise pioneers have just outed themselves on the lineup for a handful of the world’s biggest music festivals in 2017, including — yup — Glastonbury.

In a swag of since-deleted tweets, the Aussie dudes blurted out plans to appear at the UK mega-fest fest next year, becoming just the second band to do so (Radiohead confirmed their own headlining slot back in October).

“Yes we are playing Glastonbury!” they tweeted.

They also straight-up confirmed an appearance at another one of the world’s most mammoth music fests AKA California’s Coachella — responding “Yes” to a fan who asked if they’d be backing up at the Indio extravaganza as well.

DJ Snake and DJ Khaled have both previously leaked their spots on the Coachella 2017 lineup, while the likes of Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Radiohead are all rumoured to headline.

Finally, The Avalanches also retweeted two fans who asked whether they’d be tackling Bonnarooo and Governors Ball to boot…

We reckon it could be an indication that they’ll be appearing at both of those next year as well.

The ‘Lanches were forced to cancel a bunch of their dates abroad this year due to a health issue within their ranks, but if all goes according to plan, then 2017 should see the homegrown DJ crew well and truly conquer the world.

But before that happens, you can catch them performing a bunch of shows live on home turf for Falls Festival this January.
