British rapper M.I.A. has premiered a brand-new track at her show at Metropolis in Montreal this week, unleashing speculation that the untitled track will appear on her upcoming fourth studio effort, Matangi, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2010’s Maya.
The new track, which was performed last Wednesday night, could be the third track to be revealed from Matangi, following the killer first single Bring The Noize and second official release Only 1 U, which was debuted by DJ Ital on online radio station NTS last month before being released online.
Matangi is scheduled for release later in 2013, although the album has already been pushed back several times, with M.I.A’s record label Interscope telling her the music was “too positive”. The rapper and performer told BBC Radio 1‘s Zane Lowe that this could be her last record with a major label, saying, “This was my last stab at it – I’m going to hand it in and wait for it to go out the way albums go out. If I didn’t get it out right now, I would’ve definitely exploded.”
