Matt & Alex Recruit Huge Lineup Of Triple J Faves For Five Epic Farewell Parties

Written by Emmy Mack on November 22, 2016

Aussie music lovers’ regular morning brekky dates, Matt Okine and Alex Dyson, may be dumping us, but not before one final romp in the hay.

After announcing their imminent toodle-oo from triple j yesterday, the radio lords have unveiled plans to toast their official Brexit (=Breakfast Exit) with one final victory lap, taking the form of ‘Five Raves In Five Days’.

Matt & Alex have assembled an absolutely godzilla lineup of allstar triple j acts to DJ a fistful of farewell bashes in their honour across the nation, which will allow the LOLsmiths to FSU one more time before flying off into the sunset like the proverbial Fred & George Weasley from the Hogwarts Great Hall of life.

Are you ready to hear this lineup? Hitting the decks at the shindigs in either Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane will be *takes deep breath*: Drapht, Mosquito Coast, San Cisco, Tired Lion, Bad//Dreems, Jess Kent, Luke Million, Tigerilla, Trials, Bec Sandridge, Client Liaison, Gretta Ray, Illy, Japanese Wallpaper, Olympia, Gang of Youths, Lisa Mitchell, Montaigne, One Day DJs, The Preatures, triple j presenters, Amy Shark, Ball Park Music, Confidence Man, Feki feat. Gill Bates and The Jungle Giants.

Phew!

“As Darude’s messengers here on earth, we felt it was our duty to spread the word of the rave across the country, while saying goodbye to our faithful heaving friends. With a heavy heart, and heavy investments in the glow stick industry, we look forward to raving with you one last time,” the brekky boys say in a statement.

Fingers crossed we’ll get to see one final, glorious repeat of their Splendour In The Grass 2015 performance of Pack ‘Er Up Boys #totesappropes.

All five 18+ shows will be free, kicking off from 7pm.

It’s an emotional time, but let’s not call it goodbye, let’s just call it… smell ya later.

Catch all the details for each show below.

UPDATE 22/11/16: Triple j has announced Matt and Alex’s replacements, and has farewelled a number of other presenters.
