Metallica has released the trailer for their upcoming 3D film Through The Never. The preview combines footage of a riot breaking out in the street with Metallica whaling it onstage, and does a pretty good job of getting you pumped without giving too much away.
Star Dane DeHaan (Lincoln, Lawless), whose van gets totalled early on in the clip, has previously described Through The Never as half concert, half movie:
“It’s, in a way, like a 3-D concert movie but there’s also this narrative that ties together all the footage. It’s gonna be, first of all, really rock and roll and really ‘Metallica’ for lack of a better word; they don’t hold back at all.”
According to the trailer the 3D version of Through The Never will be released in The States exclusively in IMAX on 27th September.Through The Never will be in cinemas everywhere from the 4th October, but it’s unclear if ‘everywhere’ will include Australia.
Although it comes as little consolation to most Australians, Through The Never is also expected to be released on Netflix at some time in the near future.
