Ian “Molly” Meldrum‘s getting his Foxtel on, with the iconic music legend and his Akubra today announced to be joining their channel MAX as a new host, joining current presenters Jane Gazzo, Chit Chat and James Reyne.

Meldrum, who was responsible for pioneering music show Countdown, will be hosting a range of programs across MAX, including the Top 100 Greatest Australian Songs Of All Time special on Australia Day. The 70-year-old critic, journalist, presenter, record producer and mentor has been influencing pop culture for over four decades now, interviewing everyone from David Bowie to Madonna.

Shaun James, Foxtel’s general manager of music channels, said Meldrum would be a fantastic addition to the MAX family. “When it comes to talking music, Molly is among this country’s best. He’s interviewed absolutely everyone and his stockpile of stories and experiences is insurmountable.”

Meldrum will kick off his MAX journey from Tuesday, 3rd December.
