Mum @ Worldbar, Friday 13th August

Written by John Ritchie on August 8, 2010

Friday the 13th and Mum have resisted throwing a cliche black Friday party and instead they are doing what they they do best – 8 Bands and a Dozen Indie DJs till late.

FUZZY PHANTOMS
are up from Melbourne with Darren Cordeux from Kisschasey fronting the show and Tahlia Shaw, possibly the hottest female drummer since Torry Castellano from THE DONNAS (the drummer was the only hot one) hitting the skins.

Do Synthesizers just work better in Melbourne? CITY CALM DOWN are another posse of analogue fiends who know how to twist the knobs the right way to create fun tunes without the cheese. These guys are MUMs pick for the night.

Locals lads SLEEPY HANDS are in the back room too then another bunch of Melbournites MOTHER & FATHER close out the live element with their instantly likeable grunge rock.

Upstairs CORPUS are set to thrash out some punk rock. They are so punk they don’t even have a bassist! GLASS TOWERS will be standing tall with their upbeat indie songs even though they are far from their home in Byron Bay and Sydney-siders VANITY RIOTS will bring some glam rock to the stage.

And MUM has more awesome DJs than anywhere else in town with Comic Sans DJs from Brisbane, Sweetie, Gatsby, Jack Shit, My Melody, Skully Boo, Vivienne Kingswood, Sammy K, Lloyd, 10th Avenue and 16 Tacos all getting silly with CDs.

Oh yeah and there are $4.50 Vodkas or VBs for Students.
