Muse Ruled Out Of Soundwave 2016

UPDATE 17/12/15 5.50pm: Soundwave 2016 has been officially cancelled.

English rockers Muse will not perform as part of Soundwave 2016, according to festival promoter AJ Maddah.

Yesterday, Maddah took to Twitter to tell an inquisitive punter that Muse will have shows booked across the US when Soundwave rolls around again next February. The US shows in question are yet to be officially announced by the band.

Maddah’s confirmation isn’t all that surprising given that Muse have never played at Soundwave. That said, the band are set to headline the UK’s Download festival in June, playing on a lineup which includes Soundwave 2015 alumni such as Slipknot, Faith No More, Marilyn Manson, Judas Priest, Slash and Lamb Of God.

Muse are due for an Australian tour in the near future, having last toured down under in 2013 behind the release of 2012’s The 2nd Law. The band’s seventh studio album, Drones, is set for release in Australia on 5th June.

Drones will feature the new track Psycho, as well as another new rock-heavy song called Reapers (below), which Muse debuted live in Belfast earlier this week.

Muse are currently touring England, and have an extensive tour of Europe locked in for May, June and July, as well as an appearance at Japan’s Fuji Rock festival. Drones‘ lead single, Dead Inside, is expected to arrive on 23rd March.

In other Soundwave news, the first act for Soundwave 2016 has been locked in. Stay tuned to the Soundwave 2016 lineup rumours and info page for all the latest.
