Melbourne three-piece My Disco have announced a new 12″ due out October 16. Comprised of two new songs and accompanying remixes, the 12″ will be available via Temporary Residence, iTunes and various Australian independent record stores.
One of the new tracks, Wrapped Coast, has been described as ‘post-punk clatter at its finest’ and is said to follow on sonically from the band’s 2010 LP Little Joy. To celebrate the forthcoming release My Disco are heading out for a handful of shows taking place at Canberra, Sydney, Wollongong and the band’s hometown Melbourne, which is already sold out and will also have copies of the 12″ available for purchase.
When Music Feeds chatted with My Disco’s Ben Andrews, the guitarist explained that the band thrives from onstage experimentation to keep the music fresh.
“We tend to draw songs out and change them a bit live. It probably comes from playing a lot live and wanting to change them up a little bit. I think sometimes it comes from a couple of happy accidents where we’ll make a mistake and then end up keeping it in,” Ben said.
“I think it’s good because then it’s almost like playing a new song. You’ve got to have a new approach and it makes it more interesting to play those songs every night,” he said.
