Nick Oliveri Returns To Australia For A Quick Visit

Written by Daniel Clarke on March 9, 2010

Last October Nick Oliveri kicked off a solo world tour in support of his album ‘Death Acoustic’ right here in Australia. Ever since he has been on the road taking it to all parts of Europe and the USA. Now he is set to return in late March for three Australian shows to complete his tour of the album.

In the country for some recording and pre production work for the forthcoming Mondo Generator release and tour which kicks off in late May, Nick will take some time out to play select shows in Sydney, Wollongong and Melbourne. With his shows in Melbourne and Wollongong both selling out and a last minute change of venue due to the closure of the Hopetoun in Sydney on the last tour, Nick has decided to return to the three cities to give the people that missed his show last time a chance to catch him in intimate, solo mode.

Throughout his career delivering audiences wild and loud rock shows with Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age, Mondo Generator and Dwarves, Nick has found time to solo shows an an intimate setting. Just him and his guitar, blending songs he has written for the bands he has played in, specifically written songs for the solo shows and well chosen covers. In this format he has further showcased what a great songwriter and musician he is.

The latest album ‘Death Acoustic’ is the result of these efforts and the resulting live shows are truly an interactive event. Nick will do his best to adapt crowd requests to the acoustic format, with highlights on the current tour including his versions of the Kyuss track ‘Green Machine’ and Queens Of The Stone Age tracks such as ‘Millionaire’, ‘Autopilot’ and Gonna Leave You’ along with acoustic versions of tunes from artists that inspired him such as The Misfits, Turbonegro and even The Ramones.
