The Fear Of Missing Out seems to be a new, albeit widespread epidemic reaching fever pitch around this time of year coinciding with the annual pilgrimage all our friends, work colleagues and family members make to Splendour In The Grass.
The lucky jerks.
Personally, FOMO manifests itself in me as a burning, fiery hate. But others have found a way to channel FOMO into a more positive, beneficial output. Enter Northlane vocalist Marcus Bridge.
Off the road from touring their current album Node and stuck in un-SITG friendly Sydney, Marcus hasn’t let his FOMO get the best of him. Having missed The 1975 ~literally~ every time the band has been in town due to, well, being in his own successful band that is always on the road, he’s taken things into his own hands.
Taking to his home studio, Marcus has held his own SITG, covering The 1975’s 2013 single Robbers, featured on the group’s eponymous record. I mean, we knew homeboy had serious chops but we think it will be surprising for anyone who insists on pigeonholing heavy vocalists.
Your move, Matt Healy.
