Of Mice & Men Pull Out Of A Day To Remember’s Aussie Tour, Replacement Announced

A Day To Remember have lost one big-name support act from their upcoming Aussie tour and gained another.

Of Mice & Men have been forced to pull the plug on their trip down under thanks to further health setbacks for frontman Austin Carlile.

The Orange County metalcore champs were forced to axe the remainder of their European tour dates back in October, after the singer underwent surgery to fix multiple tears that had developed in his spine.

At the time, Aussie promoter Live Nation said the band would be all G for their Aussie dates, but it seems Carlile is still in need of some R&R before he’s fit enough to get back behind the mic.

In an official statement, the band say they took every measure possible to continue touring, but in the end health had to be put first “to ensure the longevity of Austin and the band”.

“Due to Austin’s ongoing recovery from recent surgeries, Of Mice & Men are saddened to announce that they will no longer be able to join A Day To Remember on their Australian tour,” say the group.

“The band appreciates your understanding and support of Austin’s daily struggle with his chronic illness, and we want our fans to know that he is taking the time and measures needed to recover from his extensive hospital stay. We hope to see you all soon.”

Taking to Twitter, Carlile says, “For our Australian fans: My heart breaks I can’t be there because of my body.”

But there’s a silver lining, because Atlanta metalcore act Issues have put their hands up to replace OM&M on all the licensed and all ages stops of ADTR’s Bad Vibes Aussie adventure, marking their first down under tour dates since supporting The Amity Affliction back in 2014.

Hopefully they’ll be bringing their hardcore cover of the Pokemon theme song along, which was a huge hit at Warped Tour earlier this year.

Aussie poppers Tonight Alive round out the still-just-as-epic bill.

UPDATE 8/12/16: A Day To Remember have changed the date and venue of their Perth show.
