Watch Issues Kick Off Vans Warped Tour Set With A Hardcore Cover Of The Pokemon Theme Song

US post-hardcore act Issues have shown tremendous commitment to a ‘bit’ as Vans Warped Tour continues to make its way around North America. Flanked by Pokemon themed amps, cabs and signage, the band unfurled an absolutely ripper of the show’s anthemic (if not generation defining) theme song.

Now, before you roll your eyes and move on – we’re talking legit old school Charmander/Bulbasaur/Squirtle type shit here. The band even goes as far as to deck their on-stage equipment out in the colours of the original Gameboy game series, good ol Red, Yellow and Blue version. Of course, Extra points go to the BMO-toned GameBoy colour.

The band are going the whole hog with the vibe, laying down some serious cash for Pokemon themed drum skins and backdrop. Two videos popped up recently of the performance going down – One from the San Antonio leg of the festival and the other from Orlando – with slight differences, one for example has the Jiggly Puff intro which I don’t quite get but am going along with anyway for fear of looking out of touch.

UPDATE 10/07/16: A lucky Pokémon GO player has found a wild Pokemon at one of Issues’ Pokemon-themed Warped Tour festival sets.
