Red Hot Chili Peppers For Big Day Out 2013?

Rumour’s are already circulating for possible bands on next year’s Big Day Out 2013 lineup, starting with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who are expected to be one of the headliners.

Triple M reporter James Young is tipping them to play, on the back of their appearance on the Lollapalooza lineup this year. Promoters C3 Presents, who run Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, are working with Big Day Out in a partnership for the 2013 festival and beyond. We could easily see a lot of bands on both lineups cross over for the next few years to come.

Flea had spoken about a tour for 2012 when he caught up with another Triple M reporter, Matty White, at last year’s MTV Europe Video Awards in Northern Ireland. Flea said “We are coming, I looked at my tour schedule and it’s there … I don’t know the dates, I’m sorry, but we are coming. Without doubt, we will come”. But since then dates have been pushed back, as singer Anthony Kiedis has had to overcome foot injuries, and could have possibly put a delay on the progress of any tours over our way.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have had a great association with the Big Day Out, playing here in 2000.

So, it seems they are currently in negotiations for either the Big Day Out or their own stadium tour. A win-win situation either way.
