UPDATE 21/09/16: SAFIA have just announced an extra Brisbane show, while several other shows have now sold out. Details below.
UPDATE 05/09/16: SAFIA have announced the addition of a second Sydney show for their 2016 national tour.
ORIGINAL STORY: It’s a good morning to be a SAFIA fan because the Canberra trio have given us all the news, announcing their debut album, sharing a single off it and revealing national tour dates.
The band will release their debut Internal on 9th September just before they head out on a national tour which will see them perform eight dates around the country, showing off all the new material.
“It’s so exciting to have a full catalogue to play,” lead singer Ben Woolner told triple j.
The guys dropped into triple j this morning to unveil the news and play their new single Over You (below) which is taken from the record. It’s only the second new single we’ve heard from them this year following the release of Make Them Wheels Roll.
That’s not including the brooding instrumental Zion they released last week as a teaser for the album.
“Hopefully there should be a song for everyone on the record that fits into their tastes,” Woolner said speaking about the record.
“It kind of explores everything we’ve done in the past in all those different singles into one.”
They have spent the last few weeks playing dates in Europe and will next month head over to America to play some show before returning home.
It’s been a massive few years for SAFIA despite the fact they’re only now getting around to releasing their debut album. They’ve played some of the biggest festival stages in the country including a huge show at 2015’s Splendour In The Grass and they have also sold out national tours including a handful of secret show dates last month.
You can listen to the new song, view the album tracklist and cover and see all the tour dates below. Tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow.
