Sleater-Kinney Announce Australian Headline Show

Alt-rock trio Sleater-Kinney were announced on the bill for Golden Plains Festival this week and now they have revealed a headline show in Melbourne.

They will take to recently refurbished Melbourne venue The Croxton in early March for the only Australian headline show that has been announced as of yet.

The band came out of an almost decade-long hiatus earlier this year, releasing their slamming eighth album No Cities To Love – the first since 2005’s The Woods.

Since then Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss have spent the year touring and playing festivals like Sasquatch, Primavera Sound and Pitchfork Music Festival.

It’s been a long time in between Australian visits. Sleater-Kinney were last here for the Big Day Out in 2006. “Playing Australia has always been one of the highlights of any project we’ve worked on musically. Certainly in the past with Sleater-Kinney we have lots of fond memories,” the band told Double J last year.

Promoters are calling this show the first headline show to be announced so we’d be keeping our eye out for shows to be announced in other cities soon. Tickets to the Melbourne show go on sale tomorrow Friday, 16th October. Check out the details below.

UPDATE 16/10/15: With Sleater-Kinney’s 2016 Melbourne headline show selling out super-quickly, the band have added an extra Melbourne date to their upcoming Aussie jaunt. The new show will take place at The Croxton. Full tour and ticket details are available below. Promoters have also confirmed that shows in other Australian cities will be announced soon.
