Soundgarden have announced Big Day Out Sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne which will see them play in Australia for the first time in nearly 15 years. The shows also signal the first time Soundgarden has played outside the U.S since 1997.
Soundgarden are one of the seminal bands to evolve out of the grunge scene that came out of Seattle in the early 90s. Their most successful album came in 1994 with Superunknown. The album featured Grammy Award-winning singles Black Hole Sun and Spoonman. In 1997, the band broke up due to an internal rift over the creative direction.
Soundgarden will be supported by LA quintet, Mariachi El Bronx.
